Wrinkles Information

Wrinkles are folds in the skin which typically appears as the result of aging. Wrinkles is also caused by sun damage, poor hydration, smoking and other factors which affect the overall health of the individual. Aging is the common cause of wrinkles where the skin does not produce skin cells with very good quality or it does not exfoliate the skin properly. Wrinkles can be treated by using chemical exfoliants, vitamins and nutrients, botox and surgergy. Surgery would produce the most dramatic result but it is invasive and cost a lot.

Skin Wrinkle treatment

1. Tretinoin – this is a vitamin-A derivative that is topically applied on the skin. Tretinoin promotes skin cell division and causes an increase in the turnover of skin cells. Old skin cells are shed off and the newer, healthier skin cells emerge. This action reduces the formation of wrinkles.

2. Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) – these are substances that are produced by the body in order to maintain the structural integrity of tissues and for the maintenance of fluid balance. One example of GAG is Hyaluronic Acid, it promotes the synthesis of collagen, repair and hydration of the skin. Glycosaminoglycans functions as natural moisturizer for skin cells. Topically applied glycosaminoglycans can help slow or prevent the formation of wrinkles.

3. Botox – this is a neurotoxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Botox injection is used to treat wrinkles as well as other health conditions like migraine and cervical dystonia.

4. Topical Vitamin-C (Ascorbic Acid) - Vitamin C is needed for the synthesis of collagen and the repair of damaged cells. Ascorbic acid also promotes wound healing. When Vitamin-C is topically applied, it reduces the amount of wrinkles by promoting collagen synthesis and accelerated repair of damage skin cells. Topical vitamin-C is good for eye wrinkle treatment and facial wrinkle treatment.

5. Topical Copper Peptide – In theory, wrinkles can be characterized as incorrect deposition of collagen and imperfect layering of skin cells. Copper Peptides promotes the synthesis of smaller and more regular collagen that is found in normal skin. Topical Copper Peptide is good for eye wrinkle treatment and facial wrinkle treatment.

6. Alpha-Hydroxy Acid Peels – these are acids that typically come from fruits. The most common AHA that is used in the treatment of wrinkles is Glycolic Acid. Glycolic acid has a very small molecule that penetrates deep in the skin where it promotes the shedding of old skin cells. When the old skin cells have been shed, a newer younger skin cell layer emerges. Higher concentrations of AHA are used as deep wrinkle treatments.

7. Surgery – this gives the most dramatic result in treating wrinkles but it is expensive and you would experience a downtime if you want surgery as an option for wrinkle treatment.
